What our GCSE Computer Science tutoring covers
Lessons cover the programming skills and theoretical knowledge your child needs for their GCSE specification. Tutors can support AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel and other relevant UK exam boards, adapting practice to the topics and question styles your child will meet.
Programming support includes variables, data types, selection, iteration, arrays, functions and procedures. Pupils practise tracing code, finding errors, writing algorithms and using pseudocode or their course language, such as Python. Theory sessions can explore binary and hexadecimal, data representation, Boolean logic, CPU architecture, memory, storage, networks and cyber security.
Tutors also help pupils explain the ethical, legal and environmental impacts of technology. Exam preparation brings these areas together through past paper questions, careful use of technical vocabulary and practice applying knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios. The balance between coding, theory and revision follows your child's starting point and exam board requirements.
Who your tutor will be
GoodGrade tutors are Russell Group educated and 100% DBS checked. Your child's tutor brings subject knowledge together with patient, focused teaching, making space for questions that might feel difficult to ask in class.
For Computer Science, that means helping pupils understand why an algorithm works, not simply copying a solution. A tutor can model a method, work through an example together and then check whether your child can apply it independently. Sessions are shaped around their confidence, schoolwork and goals.
GoodGrade has an average rating of 4.9 out of 5, and 93% of pupils improve at least one grade. These figures reflect GoodGrade pupils overall, rather than a guaranteed result for any individual subject or pupil.

Which GCSE Computer Science exam boards do you support?
Tutors can support AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel and other relevant UK exam boards. Share your child's exam board when arranging support so lessons can follow the right specification and exam question styles.
Can a tutor help my child with Python?
Yes. Sessions can focus on Python skills such as variables, loops, selection, functions and debugging. Let us know which programming language your child uses at school so this can inform your tutor matches.
Are lessons online or in person?
GoodGrade offers one to one lessons online across the UK, plus in person tuition anywhere in the UK. Both options provide individual attention and lessons shaped around your child's needs.
Can tutoring help with both theory and exam technique?
Yes. Lessons can combine topics such as networks, binary and computer architecture with past paper practice. Your child can work on interpreting questions, using precise terminology and explaining their reasoning clearly.
Is tutoring suitable if my child is already doing well?
Yes. A tutor can challenge a confident pupil with unfamiliar programming problems, more demanding exam questions and closer attention to written explanations. Sessions can also address small gaps before they affect progress.
