What our GCSE Physics tutoring covers

Lessons cover the topics your child needs for AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR or the relevant WJEC specification, with teaching matched to their qualification and tier where applicable. We support both separate GCSE Physics and the physics content within Combined Science, taking account of differences between courses.

Your child can work on energy stores and transfers, electricity and circuits, particle models, atomic structure, forces and motion, waves, magnetism and electromagnetism. Where their specification includes it, support also covers space physics. Tutors explain ideas through worked examples before helping pupils tackle questions independently.

A gcse physics tutor also builds the skills that connect these topics: rearranging equations, converting units, interpreting graphs and using significant figures. Practical work receives careful attention, including methods, variables, uncertainty and evaluating results. Exam preparation uses relevant past paper questions and mark schemes to improve calculations, written explanations and timing.

Who your tutor will be

GoodGrade tutors are Russell Group educated and 100% DBS checked. They combine subject knowledge with patient explanations, giving your child space to ask questions without feeling rushed or embarrassed. The aim is not simply to provide answers, but to help pupils explain their reasoning and approach unfamiliar problems with greater independence.

Your tutor matches take account of your child's learning needs, goals and availability. In lessons, tutors can revisit earlier gaps, model a calculation clearly or stretch a confident pupil with more demanding questions. Across GoodGrade, 93% of pupils improve at least one grade. This is a service wide figure rather than a promise of a particular GCSE Physics result.

Frequently asked questions

Which GCSE Physics exam boards do you cover?

Tutors support AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and relevant WJEC specifications. Share your child's exam board and qualification so lessons can focus on the correct content, practical requirements and question styles.

Can you help with Combined Science physics?

Yes. Tuition can focus on the physics content of Combined Science or separate GCSE Physics. Your tutor follows the relevant specification and tier where applicable, so your child practises the material they need.

Can a tutor help with physics calculations?

Yes. Lessons can cover choosing and rearranging equations, converting units, substituting values and showing working clearly. Tutors also help pupils interpret graphs and explain what their answers mean in a physical context.

Are lessons online or in person?

Online one to one lessons are available across the UK. In person tuition is also available in selected areas. All sessions are individual, with teaching focused on your child's needs.

Do you help with practical questions and exam technique?

Yes. Tutors help pupils understand practical methods, identify variables, interpret results and evaluate uncertainty. They also use exam questions and mark schemes to practise clear explanations, accurate calculations and sensible timing. Tuition supports understanding but does not replace practical work at school.
