What our KS2 Maths tutoring covers
Lessons focus on the maths your child meets at school, with time to revisit earlier ideas when needed. We cover place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, alongside times tables and mental calculation strategies. Pupils also practise fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, shape, angles, coordinates and interpreting charts and tables.
Reasoning matters just as much as getting an answer right. Tutors help children explain their thinking, choose useful methods and tackle word problems without feeling overwhelmed. Practical examples and clear explanations make unfamiliar ideas easier to understand.
For pupils preparing for Year 6 SATs in England, sessions can include arithmetic and reasoning practice using relevant question formats. KS2 SATs are national curriculum assessments, not exams set by GCSE boards such as AQA, Edexcel or OCR. For children elsewhere in the UK, lessons can follow their school curriculum and current classroom topics.
Who your tutor will be
Our Russell Group educated tutors bring strong subject knowledge and a patient approach to one to one learning. Every GoodGrade tutor is DBS checked, so you can feel reassured about who is supporting your child.
Your ks2 maths tutor can break a tricky calculation into manageable steps, spot gaps in understanding and give your child space to ask questions. The aim is to help them understand why a method works, rather than simply memorise an answer.
GoodGrade Tutors has an average rating of 4.9 out of 5. When choosing a tutor, you can focus on the match that feels right for your child’s learning needs, confidence and personality.
How it works
Start with the free 2 minute quiz at goodgrade.co.uk/quiz. Tell us about your child’s year group, the areas they find difficult and what you would like tutoring to help them achieve. You can then choose from 3 to 4 tutor matches.
Weekly one to one sessions give your child regular time to practise, ask questions and revisit anything that has not quite clicked. Lessons are available online across the UK, with in person options in selected areas.
Progress is tracked in the GoodGrade Hub, helping you see what your child is working on and how they are getting on. As their understanding develops, lesson priorities can change with them.
